How plan design can help promote saving equity in retirement plans

It’s a mission we firmly believe in, and it means that we’re keenly aware of critical barriers for retirement savings. Still, studies tell us that there are retirement plan saving disparities when comparing different race and ethnicity segments.

Given the impact that retirement plan designs have on participant savings, Vanguard researched the data of 115,000 employees in 14 plans from nine clients to better understand how plan design can help improve retirement savings equity across different race and ethnicity groups—specifically, Black, Hispanic, Asian, and White employees.
