The emotional value of advice

Feeling confident and in control matters to retirement plan participants. In this commentary, we reflect on a 2021 Vanguard study that found that participants associate 45% of the total value of advice with the emotional aspects of the relationship.

The results shed new light on the important emotional role advice can play in helping participants navigate key financial moments in their lives and why sponsors should consider these benefits when evaluating advice services for their plan.
