To help defined contribution (DC) plan sponsors understand how their industry's plans compare with Vanguard-recordkept DC plans, we offer eight industry benchmark supplements to our annual How America Saves report.

This report analyzes data for ambulatory and health care services firms with qualified DC plans for which Vanguard provides recordkeeping. These are firms that provide health care services directly and indirectly to ambulatory patients. Health practitioners in this group include physician, dentist, and eye care offices, along with therapy, laboratory, and other outpatient care centers.

We believe this information can help you make more effective plan decisions and will serve as a valuable reference tool as you continue to develop your retirement programs.

  • All investments are subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest.
  • Investments in target-date funds are subject to the risks of their underlying funds. The year in the fund name refers to the approximate year (the target date) when an investor in the fund would retire and leave the workforce. The fund will gradually shift its emphasis from more aggressive investments to more conservative ones based on its target date. An investment in target-date funds is not guaranteed at any time, including on or after the target date.
